Introduction to Forensic Mapping Training Course
MapScenes Certified Training
Mapscenes has developed a Course Training Standard to ensure that Investigators are provided with the knowledge and skills required to use the MapScenes System easily, efficiently and most importantly, expertly.
Forensic Mapping Services uses only MapScenes Certified Instructors. Our instructors are industry professionals and are able to provide expert instruction, catering to all skill levels and backgrounds.
We follow the strict Course Training Standard for all of our MapScenes Certified Courses. At successful completion of each course, students are designated by MapScenes as "Certified".
This course is designed for students new to Forensic Mapping with Evidence Recorder 7. Course content includes the set-up and proper use of a total station as well as collecting scene data with Evidence Recorder software.
MapScenes Forensic Mapping Software Training Course
This course is designed for students with limited knowledge of, or new to, MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010 software. Course content includes an introduction to forensic mapping as well as basic and some advanced features of MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010.
Combined Upgrade Training Course
This course is designed for students with some experience in older versions of MapScenes and Evidence Recorder Software, who are upgrading to MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010 and Evidence Recorder 7. Course content includes basic features of MapScenes 2010 as well as Evidence Recorder 7.

All of the above courses are 40 hours in length and include a MapScenes Training Manual.
Upon successful completion, each student will receive a certificate from MapScenes, certifying them as a MapScenes Certified Professional.
Every Certified MapScenes Training Course is approved by ACTAR for 30 CEU's.
Forensic Mapping Services offers the following additional courses;
Advanced MapScenes Training Course
This is a 40 hour course and is designed for students with a good working knowledge of MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010. Course content includes 3D Drawing and Surface Modeling.
MapScenes Capture Animation Training Course
This 40 hour course is designed for students with a good working knowledge of MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010, including 3D drawing and Surface Modeling. Course content includes basic features of MapScenes Capture animation software, including 2D and 3D animation.
Basic Total Station Operation
This 16 hour course is designed to give students a basic understanding of the principles behind forensic mapping with a total station. Course content includes how to set up a total station, basic operation, polar coordinate and cartesian coordinate systems and verification of data.
